| Buying Contact Lenses Online | 1. Be sure your prescription is up-to-date.
In some states your prescription is required to have been checked once a year, in some - twice a year. Other states don’t have a time requirement. Make sure the expiration date on your prescription hasn’t passed before using it to buy online.
2. Your prescription should have the basic info you need.
Different states need different information on your prescription. Mainly, you need your lens measurements including power, diameter and base curve. The majority of websites also need to know your doctor’s name, the contact brand name and the material.
3. Though you can buy without a prescription, but remember that it’s a bad idea.
It is not illegal to order your contacts without your prescription. Typically the company you are buying from should ask for a copy of your prescription; as well as it should also check back with your doctor to confirm the prescription and expiration date, but it may not. Contact seller company may rely on you to be sure your prescription is correct, so take responsibility. The contacts sale is regulated by individual states, not the U.S. government.
4. If you order online, ensure that the company gives you the following: the exact brand, lens name, power, sphere, cylinder (if any), axis (if any), diameter, base curve and peripheral curves (if any) required on your prescription.
5. Do not buy a substitute brand.
Diverse brands have different water contents and shapes that the doctor takes into account when writing the prescription. Don’t risk accepting an alternative brand.
