contactsEmmetropia
This is scientific definition of normal vision. The cornea and eye lens focus a picture right on the retina.

Enzyme cleaner
This is strong cleaner for contact lenses for once-a-week usage. It intended for removing of lasting plaques from contact lenses. There is separate kind of enzyme cleaners for soft and GP lenses.

Extended wear lenses
This type of lenses is intended for long, up to 14 days wearing.

Farsightedness
It’s a state when a person has difficulties in seeing objects, which are close to him or her. This happens because the eyeball is too short-length and plane, so the light rays are not focused when they get to the retina.

GP contact lenses
The full name of this lenses type is rigid gas permeable lenses (RGP). They manufactured of air-penetrating plastic, which is made in the form of the cornea. GP contact lenses are comfortable in wearing and cleaning. They are not harmful for eyes.

Hard contact lenses
This type of lenses made of polymethylmethacrylate (this is rigid plastic) and is outdated nowadays. Thanks to its solidity these lenses had great optics. But the main disadvantage was that they kept the oxygen from the cornea.

Hyperopia
Has the same meaning as farsightedness.

Iris
Colored part of the eye. It controls the pupil of the eye.

Keratoconus
It’s a state when the cornea of the eye acquires the form of cone. This leads to vision distortion. People with keratoconus have to wear lenses, specially made for them.

LASIK
This abbreviation stands for laser-assisted in-situ keratomileusis. It’s a surgery during which a small rag of the cornea is cut out on its top. The part of the corneal tissue under it is removed with the help of laser. After this the rag is put back on its place. This surgery is a way of treatment for farsightedness, nearsightedness and astigmatism.

Monovision
This is lens fitting technique, which is used instead of bifocal contacts, glasses or reading glasses. This technique can be applied to soft or GP contact lenses. The basis of this technique is the next: one eye is matched with remoteness vision contact lenses, another one- with near vision contact lenses.

Multifocal
This type of lenses has more than one focal field. There are bifocals and trifocals among multifocal lenses products.

Myopia
Has the same meaning as nearsightedness.

Nearsightedness
It’s a state when a person has difficulties in seeing objects, which are far from him or her. This happens because the eyeball is too long-length and steep, so the light rays focuse before they get to the retina.
