Many years ago people wear huge, old and terrible glasses to correct their vision. Fortunately thanks to the technologiy in eye care people have an opportunity to correct their vision with a help of advanced device, which is well known as contact lenses. Despite of that the contacts are on the top of their popularity there are some myths which confuse a lot of people. Some of them, which are the most common are below:
Myth: Contact lenses are not meant for children. Fact: if your child is responsible enough to take care of the contact lenses he or she can use them. The use of contacts does not depend on age.
Myth: Use of contact lenses may lead to infection. Fact: there are some infections and desease connecting with the use of contact lenses, but in fact not lenses themselves cause this. If you don’t clean your contacts in a proper way or don’t take care of them enough you may expect for some problems.
Myth: Contacts can get lost behind your eye. Fact: This statement is absolutely wrong, because from the physical point of view it is impossible. Be sure that your contact lens cannot be lost behind the surface of your eye.
Myth: Contact lens usually falls out of eye, a lot. Fact: This happens sometimes with hard lenses. Soft contact lenses are more stable, because they are hold with your eyelids. They move together with your eyes.
Myth: It is not safe to wear contact lenses during sports. Fact: a lot of sportsmen wear contact lenses, because they are more comfortable than eye glasses. Contact lenses provide a peripheral vision and in fact you don’t have any limitations in overviewing the surrounding. Contact lenses are not recommended to wear when you work in dusty enviroment or you are fond of water sports.
So, the contacts have their advantages and disadvantages, but nowadays technology try to make them as comfortable as possible.
