It is recommended to wear your contact lenses in a proper way:
1) Before inserting contact lenses or touching your eye you should wash your hands with soap.
2) Lenses are personal and cannot be used by someone else.
3) It is not recommended to take your lenses in and out frequently.
4) Consult an optometrist or an ophthalmologist before buying fashion lenses (non-prescription color lenses).
5) Bootleg lenses should not be bought.
6) Lenses should be worn on the schedule prescribed by your doctor.
7) One should take the lens out of eyes at the interval recommended by your doctor.

Improper lens care and wear can lead to the following symptoms:
1) Eye gets painful and red for more than two days.
2) You suffer from blurry vision and scratchiness.
3) If you forget to discharge your lens and wear them during sleep, you get more prone to corneal infection. It can lead to small quantity of oxygen got to the cornea when the eye is closed while sleeping. So night lens wear is dangerous.

The safety of contact lens wear and the avoidance of eye infections should be provided with the next tips:
1) Before buying lens you should consult a doctor who will tell you if they are safe for you.
2) It is necessary to buy lens that fit you perfectly. The practitioner can help you to choose the lens properly. 3) Consult your practitioner if any problems with your lens appear, even if there is no insurance on some of them.
4)  It is strongly recommended to rinse and disinfect your lenses each time before putting them in your eyes. Cleaning and disinfection should be done in solutions specially created for these purposes. You should follow the instructions of a doctor concerning proper lens care. If any questions arise, consult a doctor.
5)  You should strictly follow the wearing schedule provided by your practitioner. If you should wear lens only a specific 1imited number of hours per day,  you should not wear them more than recommended. It is forbidden to sleep in lens, because it can lead to eye infections. If you can wear lens even at night, it is recommended to give your eyes a rest. 
6)   People who wear disposable or frequent replacement lenses, should replace them on schedule  according to the prescriptions. 
7)  It is advised to apply the lens care solutions recommended by your practitioner. Not all solutions  correspond to all other solutions; and some solutions  are not suitable for some lenses. Consult a doctor before buying solutions.
8)  After take your lenses out of their case, you should rinse the case with solution and wait till it gets dry. It is recommended to wash and boil the case once a week. But it is much better to replace the case as regularly as your practitioner recommended.
9)  Before inserting or removing lens you should wash your hands using a deodorant-free, cold cream-free soap and wipe them appling a lint-free towel.
10) One should never apply a home-made saline.
11) One should not swim in contact lenses. They are not recommended to be worn in hot tubs.

If you suspect of having an eye infection, you should immediately discharge your contact lens. If you suffer from mild irritation, pain, redness, blurred vision and there is no improve in 1-2 hours after lens removal, you should consult a doctor. Take with you your contact lenses, your lens case, and the open bottles of solutions you are applying. They can help to find out the cause of eye infection.
It is strongly recommended not to delay, because prompt treatment is necessary for successful treatment of corneal infections.
