Hyperopia (Farsightedness)
farsightednessHyperopia, or farsightedness, is a widespread vision problem connected with unability to see objects clear situated at a close distance and an excellent seeing of objects situated far from the person. A vision test known as refraction detects farsightness.

Hyperopia’ Symptoms and Signs are headaches or eyestrain, burning eyes, aching in or around the eyes, fatigue or squinting during work at a close distance, discomfort after reading, writing or drawing. If you observe such symptoms, you are recommended to apply to an eye doctor who will prescribe you new glasses or contacts. Hyperopia is observed when light rays got the eye focus behind the retina instead of focusing directly on it. The eyeball of a farsighted person is shorter from front to back comparing wth the eyeball of people with normal vision. Severely farsighted people see well only objects that are rather far from their eyes. Mildly farsighted patients see well objects situated at a close distance from their eyes. Such sight desease can be born, it may dissapear with age as quickly as the eyeball gets its normal size and the lens of their eye gets flexible. When such people get elder, the lens gets less elastic and corrective lenses are recommended. It can be a hereditary desease.

Hyperopia is treated with glasses (available as bifocals, trifocals and reading lenses) or contact lenses (available as hard, soft, extended wear, disposable, rigid gas-permeable (RGP) and bifocal) that can alter the bending of light rays into the eyes and focus light on the retina. Monovision contact lenses  can be worn by farsighted people who suffer from presbyopia. Such lenses are worn when correction for the farsighted dominant eye is not obligatory. One of modified monovision contact lenses is worn for farsighted eye and one bifocal contact lens for nondominant eye. Two lenses can be worn for distance and one eye if there is necessity to see something at a close distance. People who are farsighted wear glasses or contact lens with plus numbers, for example +2.50. Farsighted people may wear glasses or contacts only while reading, working on a computer, or doing any work that demands seeing objects at a close distance. It can be corrected with refractive surgery, such as LASIK or CK that change the curvature’s shape of cornea and can partly or completely treat hyperopia.
